It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to The Hotel de la Paix. Located in the heart of the city, everything is accessible from the hotel’s front door. The centre of town, shops, nightlife, business and commercial sectors are at a two minutes walk from the hotel. The panoramic view of the Alps and Lake Leman remains unique.

We have prepared this guide to highlight the various services that Hotel de la Paix can offer you. Should you require more detailed information, our reception staff will be delighted to assist.

The Hotel de la Paix is a fourth generation family owned and operated business. It was built in 1910 and has since grown immensely. The Imfeld Family and the staff wish you a pleasant stay in Lausanne. 

On ground floor at Le Coup de Soleil Restaurant, a buffet breakfast is served every morning from 6.30 am to 10 am. 

Breakfast can also be served in your room from 6.30 to 11 am. To order it, please fill in menu card and hang it outside your door before 2 am. Room service is available by pressing the “room service” button on your phone.

Restaurant Le Coup de Soleil 
Located on the ground floor, French cuisine served from 11:45 to 13:45 and from 18:30 to 22:00.

Restaurant La Paix 
On ground floor, French cuisine is served from 11.45 am to 1.45 pm and from 6.30 to 10 pm.

The Terraces of La Paix:
Three terraces, three atmospheres: Le Coup de Soleil, La Paix Blue, and in summer, located on the first floor, La Terrasse de La Paix welcomes you for a unique experience. 

Gym-Center / Fitness
Located on the 2nd floor of the hotel, La Paix Gym-Center proposes a generous workout of 100m2, with natural day light through large windows. The Gym-Center is opened from Monday to Sunday, from 06.00 am to 10.00 pm. You can access to the Gym with your room key (according to the rights given to your key). You will find there around 10 working stations that will allow you to maintain your daily exercises in a wonderful space. Access to the Gym is free.

Laundry & Dry Cleaning
Please fill in the laundry form (located in your cupboard) and press the laundry button on the phone. A laundry bag collected before 8.45 am will be returned at approximately 7 pm on the same day. All other laundry services outside these hours are subject to availability and surcharge for express service. 

Luggage / Luggage storage
If you need assistance with your luggage, please press front desk button. A secured storage room is available at reception. 

Mail/Parcels services
Please contact front desk. 

Messages
All messages will be transferred to your room by front desk or voice mail. If you receive mail, parcels or faxes, they will be sent to your room immediately. 

Minibar
For your convenience your minibar is daily refilled. A menu showing the choice and prices is given at check-in.

Newspapers
Swiss newspapers are at your disposal in the Benjamin Bistro & Bar. If you need foreign newspaper, there is a newsagent close to the hotel, at St-François square.

Parking
Please park your car in the hotel’s private car park, which is situated opposite the front entrance of the hotel. If you require assistance, please ask reception. It is important to notify staff upon arrival if you have parked your car, there is a special rate for hotel guests. The reception will give you an entrance ticket which will be validated for the length of your stay It will allow you to enter the car park at any time (even when the outside light turns to red). After midnight and on Sundays, the car park is closed but will be opened for you by reception. Cars left in the hotel car park remain under the responsibility of their owners. The hotel cannot be held responsible for damage or for any property stolen from the cars. A car washing facility is available for our guests.

Photocopying
For information regarding photocopying, please ask reception. This service is available 24 hours.

The reception is open 24 hours a day. Please do not hesitate to call at anytime, if you should require help or information.

Safety deposit boxes
Valuables such as money, passport and flight tickets can be stored in a safe either in your room or at front desk. This service is free of charge. The hotel takes no responsibility for any items left in the room or in the room’s safe. If you lose the key of the safety deposit box you received from reception, please report immediately to our front desk staff. The replacement of this key will be charged accordingly.

Smoking policy
Smoking and vaping is only permitted within the clearly identifiable smoking areas outside. Anyone who smokes or vapes in any part of the hotel or in the rooms, anyone who throws their cigarette butt out of the window or balcony, will be charged a fixed amount of CHF 250.00.  

Taxi
Taxi can be ordered by reception. If your destination is outside Lausanne, please mention it to our staff and book it in advance.
All taxis under normal traffic conditions arrive within five minutes. Delays may occur in circumstances of bad weather or strong demand.

Voltage:
The hotel voltage is 220V. If you need an adaptor, please ask reception.

Water
To drink running water in Switzerland is safe. You will find a choice of mineral waters in your mini-bar.

Wake-up Call

What to do in case of emergency

The Hotel de la Paix undertakes serious measures to insure your safety during your stay. Nevertheless, we advise you to take a couple of minutes to familiarize with the rules of behavior in emergency situations.Please study the information on safety and evacuation plans in the event of fire that you will find on the room door.

Should smoke or flame block the way to the emergency stairway, we strongly recommend you to stay in your room and wait for help.

In the event of a fire:

• Urgently report about the fire to the front desk. (phone: press “SOS” button)
• Close doors and windows in your room.
• Use the nearest emergency exit. Follow the signs.
• Do not panic. Follow the instructions of the front desk
• Do not use elevators

Aquatis
It presents animals through a totally immersive and interactive scenography using innovative digital technologies. More than an aquarium or a vivarium, AQUATIS is an exceptional journey through our planet’s most fascinating freshwater environments. 

Lausanne Cathedral 
Built between 1150 and 1275, it is regarded as the most beautiful gothic building in Switzerland. From the top of its belfry, a watch has been crying out the hours from 10pm-2am for over 600 years. 

Olympic Museum 
Lausanne is the headquarter of the International Olympic Committee. It has, over the years, developed a modern museum of the Olympic Games. It is well documented and beautifully situated along the shores of Lake Leman at Ouchy.

Palais de Rumine: Musée Cantonal d’Archéologie et d’Histoire
This museum was built in 1900. It houses several museums including the zoology museum. It was founded in 1852 and proposes 15000 years of history from the Vaud canton.

Museum for photography: Musée de l’Elysée
The Musée de l’Elysée is entirely devoted to photography. It has eight distinct exhibition spaces, a bookshop, a reading room and an outstanding permanent collection.

Primitive Art Collection, Musée de l’Art Brut 
Lausanne is the capital of the “Art Brut”, remaining the “mother house” and THE reference of the marginal art.

The Hermitage Foundation
Situated in the upper part of Lausanne, in a magnificent mansion from the 19th century, this foundation organises quality exhibitions of paintings and sculptures.

CHUV
Lausanne's university hospital has become in recent years one of the world’s leaders in medical research. It is located near the hotel and 
takes fifteen minutes by foot or 5 minutes by taxi or metro.

EHL Hospitality Business School 
This school is famous worldwide. Many international hoteliers started their successful career here. The school is located at Chalet-a-Gobet Lausanne, the journey takes twenty minutes by car.

Information on churches, opening hours and religious services are available at reception.

EPFL and Lausanne University
The campus of Lausanne’s polytechnic School is located next to the university. This school is one of the world’s leaders for research in new applications for all kinds of technologies. Students come from all over the world. Lausanne University is composed of seven faculties and gathers around 12000 students; the journey by Metro (M2) or by car takes approximately twenty minutes.

Golf 
The 18 holes Lausanne golf course is situated outside Lausanne at Chalet-à-Gobet. The journey from the hotel takes approximately twenty minutes. Reservations are requested.

Swimming pool
Next to Parc Mon-Repos, you will find a swimming pool.

Getting around Lausanne

Bus
The main stop for all bus lines is located at Saint-François square. On leaving the hotel, take right and continue straight on (100m).

Lausanne Transport Card
Use public transport  free of charge in the Lausanne’s area. More information are available at the front desk.

Metro
The nearest metro station is located 100 meters from the hotel (Bessières station). On leaving the hotel turn right, take rue de la Paix and continue towards the bridge “Pont Bessières”. 
Metro M1 will take you from Bessières to either Ouchy (lake side) or CHUV, Croisettes (up town). 
Metro M2 will take you from Flon (city center) to UNIL (university), EPFL and Renens.

Trains
The hotel is located ten minutes from the main train station. Our reception staff will assist you with any information for all travel connections in Switzerland and Europe.

Environmental policy statement Hotel de la Paix Lausanne

The Hotel de la Paix is engaged in implementing and developing an environmental program.

To elaborate this commitment we will stay for:

• Working diligently to minimise the streams of waste and conserve the natural resources particularly energy and water
• Minimise toxic emissions
• Promote actively the recycling, as well as in-house and through our guests and suppliers.
• Using local raw materials and natural resources
• Controlling the pollution of water and air
• Including in all our renovation plans and new constructions a    program considering the environment
• Promising to take the opinions and comments from our customers and our staff when studying new programs

Examples of present applications: 

Energy saving: the former bulbs were replaced by energy-saving bulbs; the outside lights are scheduled, dimmer switches to reduce energy consumption in public areas.
Water saving & quality: towels changed on guest’s request and bed linen every 2 days, all chemical substances are ecologically tested

Noise reduction: stereo music and television are centrally controlled depending on area and time, the soundproofing is conceived by specialists.

Waste management: kitchen waste separated and stored in special refrigerator for special collection, liquid soap dispensers in public toilets, returnable glass bottles, discontinuation of plastic cocktail accessories, bulk purchasing of products, reduced packaging waste, fresh fruit and vegetables bought in returnable crates or sacks, not disposable packaging, reduction of single use products.

Reduction of plastic and aluminium packaging: preference for glass bottles. Where not possible, PET recyclable containers. Plastic cups & plates are being replaced with paper or glass, reduction of aluminium drinks cans in all departments.
